The idea of a flipped classroom is one that is new to me. Prior to reading this paragraph, I had no idea it existed. In a flipped classroom, teachers record themselves giving a lecture and make that video available to the students. The students then watch this lecture outside of class and come into class the next day knowing information on the topic. Instead of using class time to lecture, the teacher is then able to engage the students in active learning and fun activities. Without this method, most of the class would be spent giving lectures.

Open education is a movement that seeks to provide high-class education to anyone for free. Unfortunately, some people are unable to get a good education due to poverty, lack of materials, and legal mechanisms. Open content is materials shared with others for education purposes. This gives other people access to powerpoints, podcasts, images, and lesson plans. Open sources such as edX offers students free opportunities to enroll in any course at any institution. Similar websites include Khan Academy and MathTV!

In the past two weeks, we did two different PowerPoint assignments. The first assignment was one I didn't really enjoy. The topic I chose required me to do a lot of outside research and it was extremely hard to explain the information in an easy way. Also, since the PowerPoint had a lot going on, it repeatedly glitched, froze, and exited me out of the page. During the voice recording, it would not let me visit one slide and therefore I could not present that information. I worked very hard on it therefore I was upset it didn't turn out as well as I hoped. The second PowerPoint assignment was much more enjoyable. The quiz I made was on the television show The Office which I love so it was easy for me to make. Also, I feel like I had a better grasp on the information. One skill I learned from this project was how t use action buttons. Prior to this week, I did not understand how those buttons worked. Overall, I acquired many new skills from both of these presentations that will definitely aid me in the future.
