So far, my experience on Twitter has been successful. The accounts I am following provide me valid and interesting updates on the education system in our country. I especially enjoy the account @educationnation as it shares interesting facts and articles. Twitter could be helpful in my future career as it can give me ideas about lessons and how to teach my students. Also, I can gain inspiration and knowledge from teachers everywhere. The digital divide describes the gap between those who have access to technology and those who do not have access to technology. It affects students by creating an advantage to those who do have technology. It is assumed that a student surrounded by computers is better able to get information while a student that has a lack of internet access will not be experienced and have a disadvantage upon entering the modern workforce. The main causes of digital divide are poverty and a lack of education. If the parents of the student are poor or did not go to coll...

The ELA technology standards state what students of varying grade levels should know about computers. While some of these standards were familiar to me, others I had never heard of. Three ELA technology standards I felt prepared to teach were "text structure:" informational text, "use multiple sources," and "use technology." These standards are ones that I have had practice on prior to this class and for this reason I feel more comfortable with them. Three standards that I need more practice on are "vocabulary: use context clues," "use digital media," and "multimedia:" science/technical subjects. Unlike the previous three standards, I have not had practice with these. Therefore, in order to teach them, I would definitely require more experience. Throughout chapter 9, several technological applications were discussed. Some of the technological applications I thought would be helpful in a classroom were email, discussion group...

Throughout my time as a student, Microsoft Word have proven to be extremely helpful. During high school and middle school, I would use MS Word to type up essays, do some homework assignments, and take notes on readings outside of class. Now in college, I use MS Word for taking in-class notes, writing essays, keeping a schedule of homework assignments, and for doing work. As I mentioned before, I came from a very low technology school system. The first time I saw a teacher consistently use MS Word as a tool was in ninth grade when my history teacher displayed his notes using the application every single day. He would later post these notes on our school website so we could review if necessary. I found this method to be extremely useful and I have been a fan of online notes ever since. In all honestly, copyright and fair use of materials in an educational environment is not something that came up often in my classrooms. Although we did discuss plagiarism and how to cite works, I was al...

Blog Journal 1 September 11, 2017 Overtime, technology has made a increasing presence in our world. As the importance and availability of technology increases, it is becoming difficult to ignore its impact on society. Therefore, educators have started to incorporate it into their daily lessons. Technology has proven to be beneficial in classrooms in many different ways. First off, technology supports the instruction of the teacher and allows for a better understanding. If the student does not understand the teacher's wording, he or she can do research and find a better explanation that suits their learning style. This saves both the teacher and the student time and stress. Technology also helps to prepare an individual for modern life and gives them a head start for the future. In order to ensure the incorporation of technology in classrooms there are both national and state standards. An example of a national standard is the No Child Left Behind Act which requires all students ...
